TOMAH - Jean B. Otto, 75 of Tomah, died Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at the Serenity House in Tomah.  She was born September 9, 1946, in Osceola, WI to Lewis and Genevieve (Falkanger) Weller.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Faith.  In her younger years she worked at her father’s medical practice and in the hospital emergency room.  She was a member of Corvallis High School Graduating Class of 1964.  After high school Jean was united in marriage to Charles Otto in a military style wedding on January 14, 1967, at the First United Methodist Episcopal Church in Corvallis, OR.

As an Air Force and civil service family, they lived in 33 different places: Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Ft. Lee, Virginia, San Bernardino, CA, Winston-Salem N.C. were just a few.  Jean worked in various jobs, with some of the most notable being at Here’s Life Publishers, Campus Crusade for Christ in Arrowhead Springs, CA, Tours and Travel at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and the American Red Cross.

She sang in the All-State Choir and played the flute in the All-State Band.  She was an accomplished poet who wrote thousands of poems, some of which were published in books and magazines, and also posted many on allpoetry.com under the name “The_Other_Winner.” She was very creative and made numerous crafts, she excelled in woodworking and won blue ribbons for a Bible box and a doll house.

Jean had a deep faith and was a huge supporter of Christian Education.  She took a job, so her sons were able to get a Christian Education. She was a faithful member of the Tomah Baptist Church and a former member of the First United Methodist Episcopal Church in Corvallis, OR. She taught a computer class in the Tomah Baptist Academy, worked in the church kitchen, was a member of Reformers Unanimous, and was in supportive ministries. She believes that “You don’t have a right to remain silent” (about Christ.)  Her kitchen table was the center of her evangelism, and many people came to faith there. She was a devoted wife, and a loving mother, grandma, and sister. She will always be remembered for her caring heart and ability to stir up silliness.

She is survived by her husband Charles of 54 years, 2 sons and their wives, Ray and Marcie Otto of Milwaukee, Jim and Karen Otto of Tomah, a granddaughter Ruth-Anne Joy Otto of Tomah, a sister Mary Beth (Richard) Eastburn of West Albany, OR, a brother-in-law Tom Goff of OK, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
