SPARTA-Bryan James Olsen, 65, of Sparta, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at his home. He was born on July 26, 1959 to Spencer and Elaine (Schroeder) Olsen.
Bryan married Kim Larson on October 10, 1981. They had 2 children: Jennifer and Andrew.
Bryan graduated from Sparta High School in 1977. He bought the family farm in 1981, where he lived and farmed all his life. His biggest move in life was from the back bedroom to the front bedroom!
He served on the Town of Little Falls, as a supervisor and chairman, for many years. He also served on the Fire Board of the Sparta Area Fire District for many years. He was a supporter of Sparta FFA, Sparta Football, and Sparta Baseball.
Bryan was an avid fan of all Wisconsin sports: Packers, Brewers, Bucks, and Badgers. He loved all his family very much and was especially proud of his four grandsons.
Bryan is survived by his wife, Kim of 42 years; one daughter, Jennifer (Matthew) Swenson; grandsons, Jeffarey (girlfriend, Bella Brandau), Karson, Quintin, and Oliver Swenson; brother Bruce Olsen; mother-in-law, Beverly Larson; 3 sisters-in-law, Brenda Larson (Jen Johnson), Durene Barajas, and Janelle (Eric) Earle; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son, Andrew Olsen; his parents; his father-in-law, Norman Larson; both of his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his brother-in-law, Juan Barajas.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, with Chaplain Priscilla Hemmersbach officiating. Burial will be in Cataract Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at Cataract Sportsman’s Club, in Cataract.
A Visitation will be held from 5 pm until 8 pm on Monday, September 16, 2024 at the funeral home and from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday, at the funeral home. Everyone attending the visitation, or service, is asked to wear any WI sports attire: Brewers, Packers, Bucks, Badgers, or Spartans. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com
