Victor “Vic” E. Gottbeheat

TOMAH- Victor “Vic” E. Gottbeheat, 74 of Tomah joined the “Big Guy in the Sky” Thursday, June 6, 2024, at his home. He was born on October 19, 1949, to Elmer and Constance (Niedwiecki) Gottbeheat in Sparta. He was a member of the Tomah High School Graduating Class of 1967. After high school, Vic enlisted into the United States Army proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. Victor and Susan E. Schmieder started their journey together on January 1, 1978, they married on June 8, 1985, in New York. For 30 plus years, Vic worked for Advance Tank as a foreman fabricating water tanks. He was a member of the Tomah American Legion post #201. Vic was a frequent face at the Elbow Room and Kelsey’s, often meeting up with friends to catch up. More than anything, Vic loved spending time with his beloved grandchildren and would have been over the moon to learn of the newest addition of a great grandchild.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Susan E. of Tomah, children, Katlyn (Clint Moore) Gottbeheat of Anderson, SC, Link (Maggie) Gottbeheat of St. Paul, Jon (Marissa) Gottbeheat of Sparta, grandchildren, Mariah (Dustin), MaKenna, Micah, Wren, Mason, Brenna, and Reagan, and a expected great grandchild, siblings, Alvin (Eileen), Norman (Hope) and Denis, a sister-in-law Elreda (Stan) Williams and a brother-in-law Jerome Marciniak. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Janet, brothers-in-law, John and Patrick, sister-in-law, Linda, and his father-in-law Leonard Schmieder.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, 2:00 P.M. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St. Tomah. Military Honors will be held. Burial will be at a later date.  Relatives and friends are invited to call from 12 Noon until the time of the service.

Immediately following the memorial service there will be a celebration of Vic’s Life from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Kelsey’s Class Act, 201 Superior Ave. Tomah.  Online condolence can be offered by visiting www.sonnenburgfamilyfh.com.
