Larry L. Humphrey, 64, of Sparta, WI passed away suddenly, in his home, on July 16, 2024. His loss was completely unexpected, and his family is deeply saddened. He was a kind and genuine soul and will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched.

He was born on June 29, 1960 to Donald and Vera (Sagler) Humphrey and was the oldest of four children: David Humphrey, Jean Cox (Jay), Barbara Jewell (Clayton). He married his soulmate, Lynn Rowan, on January 3, 1981, and built a life and family together, ultimately residing in Sparta. He embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, humbled spirit, faithful Christian, and an unending generosity that could be seen in his desire to help and mentor others.

SPARTA-Larry’s occupations included working as a farmer on the Schams farm, mechanic for Leon Implement and Webster Industries. He then joined the team at Hellman Distributors, working in the warehouse, eventually switching to La Crosse Beverage, and then Marten Warehouse. He was patient, goofy, and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all his life experiences: farmer, mechanic, camper, grill master, Farmall/International/McCormick toy tractor collector, and fisherman. He also enjoyed stopping at antique shops in search of collectibles (like crescent wrenches) and making his famous cream cheese bars thoroughly enjoyed by many. Larry was a jack-of-all-trades - he could fix, cook, bake, and build anything.

He was blessed with three daughters: Kristi Waege (Eric), Becky Humphrey, and Megan Humphrey-Alvarado (Felix). And was affectionately nicknamed “Grandpa George” by his grandest blessings, Shelby Hanson, Jaeden Hanson, Katelyn Humphrey, Evan Hanson, Addison Alvarado, Emmersyn Alvarado, and great-grandson Everette Hanson. Larry cherished his relationships with his family, camping crew, colleagues, and many caring friends.

Larry is preceded in death by Donald Humphrey (dad), Darrell Winchell (stepdad), Evelyn Richey (aunt), Lauren Humphrey (uncle), Marvin and Wilbert Sagler (uncles), and Casey (much loved pup).

We will always love and miss you until we can meet again.
