WARRENS- Joseph “Joe” D. Pearson, 89 of Warrens passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Mayo Sparta Hospital. He was born on February 14, 1935, to Robert “Edmound” and Mae (Thiemke) Pearson in Tomah. He was a member of the Tomah High School Graduating Class of 1956. On May 15, 1965, Joe was united into marriage to Joyce Behrents. She preceded him in death in 2013. Joe proudly served his country as a member of the Air National Guard. He worked for over 35 years for the railroad as a track switcher. Track switchers are a vital part of railway infrastructure, ensuring the safety of passengers and crew, and the smooth operation of trains. He was an avid Brewer and Packer Fan and loved to travel. Trips to New York, Boston, Washington State and California were a few of his favorites. In his younger years, Joe was a Gold Glove Boxer. Later in life he enjoyed helping out on the farm, serving as a Cranfest Parade Marshall and Ambassador, and gardening. He was a faithful and devoted member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Warrens. Joe will be remembered for his kind welcoming smile, his funny sense of humor and his easy-going nature.
He is survived by his son, Jeff of Warrens, brothers, Ron (Elva) of Wyeville and David (Jan) of Cedar Rapids, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, brother, Robert, and a sister-in-law, Arletta “Leone” Pearson and well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, 11:00 AM at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church (Kirby), 4285 US Hwy 12, Warrens. Pastor Weber will officiate. Burial will be in the Warren-Mills Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
