LAKE HALLIE - Joan M. Strom, 92, died Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Lake Hallie Memory Care. She was born August 6, 1934 to Agnes (Jensen) Webster and Lawrence Webster in Sparta, WI.
She grew up with her family in Angelo, WI and graduated from Sparta High School in 1952.
Joan married Roger Strom on May 19, 1953 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sparta. Roger served in the United States Air Forces and was stationed at Larson Air Force base in Moses Lake, Washington where their son, Ronald was born in 1954. After the service, they moved back to Sparta.
Joan was a dedicated employee of Sparta Brush Company for 40 years. She was particularly impressed with the talents of Joe Larson and took pride in assisting him in speech writing, etc. Joan assumed a managerial role in her later years at the brush Company.
In her retirement she volunteered with Sparta Area Cancer Support and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church until her move in 2018 to Lake Hallie Memory Care.
Joannie was an avid gardener of both beautiful flowers and delicious vegetables. She enjoyed her back yard and maintained it to its fullest. She also enjoyed entertaining as she was an excellent cook. Having her family around filled her with joy, and she loved providing them with many tasty meals. Visiting her family’s Hayward cabin, bowling and golfing were other things she enjoyed. Her caring spirit, joy in being with family and friends, and her “can do” attitude will be missed by all who loved her.

Joan is survived by her son Ronald (Susan) Strom; his son, Alex; and daughter, Amber Strom; great grandchildren: Lailah, Amiylah, and D’andre; sisters Carol Betthauser, Tunnel City, and Edith Webster, Madison WI.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Roger on July 6, 2018; parents, Lawrence and Agnes Webster; and brother, Eugene Webster.
A Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, with Pastor Josh Buzbee officiating. Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery, Sparta. A luncheon will follow the burial, at the funeral home.
Family and friends are invited for a visitation from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday, at the funeral home.
