Evelyn A. Betthauser, age 88, formerly of Tomah, WI, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Country Terrace Assisted Living in Black River Falls, WI.

She was born on September 5, 1938, in La Crosse, WI to Harold and Gleva (Gerken) Morehouse. Evelyn grew up in La Crosse until her family moved to Tomah. Evelyn met Donald “Moose” Betthauser shortly after moving to Tomah and the two became inseparable.

On June 25, 1960, Evelyn was united in marriage to Donald “Moose” Betthauser at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, now Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church, in Tomah.

Together, Evelyn and Donald raised their nine children on the Betthauser family farm outside of Tomah. She could be found in the garden, canning her harvest, or sewing. Once their children were in school, Evelyn began working outside the home. She worked at Bandbox until her health declined.

Evelyn and Donald shared 31 years together until his passing on May 13, 1991. Evelyn cherished her family and especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Dennis (Kristin) Betthauser, Ann (Juan) Guerrero, Janice Betthauser, Nancy (Carl) Wurster, James Betthauser, Patrick (Brenda) Betthauser, Charles (Melaine) Betthauser, and Barbara Betthauser; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Harold (Kathy) Morehouse, Dolly Bridel, Donna Graham, Jeanette McAmis, and Dwight (Betty Jo) Morehouse.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Betthauser; son, Calvin Betthauser; grandson, Cory Betthauser; great-grandson, Tyler Butterfuss; her parents; brother-in-law, Robert Graham; and many extended members of the Betthauser family.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 5, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Deacon Jon Burbach will officiate. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery, Tunnel City. Family and friends are invited for visitation Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
