Sparta’s First Annual Balloons & Tunes Festival July 26th - 28th

Posted

The Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the very first Balloons & Tunes Festival, in Sparta, Wisconsin. The event will be kicking off on Friday, July 26th, 2024 in Memorial Park. The Chamber is excited to bring to Sparta, for the very first time, the Squirt Hot Air Balloon Team, this weekend!

Friday

Join us in Memorial Park, at the corners of Rusk Avenue and Montgomery Street, on Friday, July 26th, beginning at 4 p.m., for the Vendor Fair, spin art, food, and music. Balloons will be onsite, beginning at 6 p.m., with a scheduled flight set for 7 p.m. There will be only sponsor rides this year, due to the cost of liability insurance. At 7 p.m., bring your chairs and blankets, and enjoy a FREE concert, by the ever-popular, family-friendly band, The Dweebs.

Saturday

Saturday’s events kick off bright and early, with a 6 a.m. morning flight. Bring a blanket to lay back and watch the balloons fly, as the sun rises. Once again, enjoy the vendor fair, bounce house, kids’ activities, and Isaiah the Magician, who will appear at 12:30 p.m. Soul Art Milwaukee, which is an interactive art experience, being brought to you by the Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce, will start at 10 a.m. A corn hole tournament will begin with registration, at 11 a.m., with bags flying at noon. Cost is $20 per team, with winner payouts.

Balloons will be in the field at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening, preparing to fly again at 7 p.m. Music is being brought to you by Hillbilly Rocketship, starting at 7:30 p.m. and playing until 10 p.m. The balloons will return at 8:30 p.m., to show off their magnificent colors, for a tethered glow and blow. This is your opportunity to walk through the balloons and meet the pilots.

Food and drink can be purchased at the Parks & Rec Shelter, on both Friday and Saturday. Money spent here goes back into the softball programs. The Lions Club of Sparta will have their charcoal chicken dinners for sale on Saturday, in their respective shelter. Enjoy the youth program all day Saturday.

The final day to catch the hot air balloons, until next time, will be Sunday, July 28th, with a morning flight set for 6 a.m. Watch six hot air balloons fill the Sparta sky one last time. Remember to bring a blanket.
