WARRENS- Raymond W. Salzman, 86 of Warrens passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Tomah.  He was born on February 6, 1938, to Raymond and Gladys Froehlich Salzman in Wausau.  Raymond attended high school and at the age of 17 enlisted into the United States Air Force.  On July 23, 1960, he was united in marriage to Helen M. Fuerstenberg.  She preceded him in death on July 7, 2019.  Ray worked for Briggs & Stratton in Milwaukee for over 31 years. During his time in Oconomowoc, Ray volunteered for the Town of Summit Fire Department achieving the rank of Lieutenant Fireman. After retirement, Ray and Helen moved to Warrens.  Ray loved farming; raising belted Galloway cattle and taking care of the farm wasn’t just a pastime it was a way of life, and he loved every minute of it.  He was also an avid hunter.  While in retirement, Ray worked part time for Wonderwash in Black River Falls. After meeting Ray, you didn’t feel like a stranger for long, he had a knack of making anyone feel like family.  His goofy and playful nature would often bring a smile to the faces of the people that knew and loved him. 

He is survived by his son, Paul (Erin) Salzman of Hartford, a grandson Zac Salzman of  Waukesha, 3 granddaughters, Brittney Bolfert of Slinger, Camber McKinnon of Kewaskum, and Holley McKinnon of Hartford, great grandchildren, Raylyn, Avery, Adriannah, Lillianah, and Ezra, siblings, Alan (Sandy) Salzman, Phil (Sally) Salzman, Owen (Holly) Salzman, Randy (Barb) Salzman, Ralph (Robin) Salzman, Ruth Ann Salzman, Betsy (Fred) Schumacher, Linda (Bob) Wakefield, Julie (Scott) Richardson, 2 brothers-in-law,  Jerry (Sharon) Furstenberg of Millston, and Bill (Caroline) Furstenberg of Janesville.  He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Helen, siblings, Bob, Pauline, Barb, John, David and Frank. 

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, 11:00 AM at Queen of the Apostles Parish, 303 W. Monroe Street, Tomah.  Father Ethan Hokamp will officiate.  Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors.  Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.  Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home is assisting the family.  Online condolences can be offered by visiting www.sonnenburgfamilyfh.com
