SPARTA-Douglas E. Chambers, 56, of Sparta, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Eau Claire. He was born on April 19, 1968 to Edwin and Shirley (Wacker) Chambers, in Sparta. He grew up in Sparta and graduated from Sparta High School in 1987.
After high school, Doug worked at Century Foods, B&H Lumber, and High Light Inc. Most recently, he worked in security at Northern Engraving in West Salem.
Doug loved everything hunting and fishing. He found peace and joy in his cabin in the woods, on his 40 acres of land in Cataract. The great outdoors was his life.
Doug is survived by his sisters, Kim (Ken) Schmidt of West Salem, Candi (Larry) Brown of Sparta, and Dawn Chambers of Sparta; nieces and nephews, Amanda Church, Nick (Rae) Schmidt, Trevor Schmidt, Sawyer Brown, and Spencer (special friend, McKenzie Keiser) Brown; great nephews, Payton Hamilton and Parker Church; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Shirley; sister, Tami Church; and nephew, Travis Schmidt.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, with Chaplain Priscilla Hemmersbach officiating.
