The Brookwood boys’ basketball team found itself on the wrong end of a regular-season sweep following a road loss to Royall.
The Panthers (12-9 overall, 6-6 Scenic Bluffs) kept the Falcons (5-15, 3-9) at bay on their way to a 56-39 victory in conference play Friday, February 11 in Elroy. Royall had also beaten Brookwood 60-44 when they first clashed on January 11 in Ontario.
In Friday night’s contest, Royall seized a 30-20 halftime lead and then outscored the Falcons 26-19 in the second half to settle on a 17-point margin of victory.
Senior forward Nate Vieth and freshman small forward Carter Uppena each scored 16 points to set the pace for the Panthers.
Leading scorers for Brookwood included senior guard Austin Frye with 14 points, sophomore guard Brady Hansen with 10 points and sophomore forward/guard Wyatt Maurhoff with 9 points.
The Falcons will next be in action with a road game against the Hillsboro Tigers (12-9, 7-5) Thursday, February 17 at 7 p.m. Hillsboro won their first matchup 67-41 on January 14 in Ontario.
