Wade D. Cox, 76, of Tomah, died on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the Serenity House in Tomah.
He was born on July 11, 1948, on the family farm to Harold and Gladys (Wallace) Cox. Wade grew up in the Wilton Area. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Peck on April 13, 1968. To this union, four children were born.
On October 26, 1991, he married Connie Coenen at First Congregation UCC in Wilton. Wade was a devoted husband and father, gaining two additional children. He adopted his son Sheldon in 1997. Wade started working at Fort McCoy when he was 19 and worked there for over 40 years until his retirement.
Wade enjoyed being outside in nature. He took walks in the woods; his favorite spot was the family farm on the ridge. He hunted for morel mushrooms and blackberries. In his younger years he also liked to hunt and trout fish. He was always happy and easy-going. He teased and joked with his grandkids. They will always remember ice cream with grandpa.  Wade was a proud father, grandfather, and great-great grandfather. He will be deeply missed by the hearts of all that knew and loved him.
Wade is survived by his wife of 33 years, Connie; 6 children, Lori Crouch, Chad Cox, Staci (Earl) Evans, Phyllis Bunes, Tiffany Coenen and Sheldon Schmidt (Cox); 13 grandchildren, Joseph (Shannon) Crouch, Jerrad Crouch, Seth (Kennedy) Crouch, Shane (Sarah) Crouch, Karena (Josh) Cox, Kalib Skinner, Jessie (Danielle) Skinner, Dylan (Rachel) Vanderhoof, Alyssa Vanderhoof, Brian (Marissa) Bunes, Alexxis (Zakary) Stainbrook, Ariana Kaspari, and Samaya Suber; 22 great-grandchildren; siblings, Alice Leis-Murray, Robert (Marlene) Cox, Gary Cox, John Cox, Royce (Cathy) Cox, Linda (Ronnie) Shisler; and sister-in-law, Pat Cox. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim Cox and Harold (Edith) Cox Jr.; sister, Joanne (Harold) Meyer and sister-in-law, Nadine Cox.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, 11:00 AM, at Queen of the Apostles Parish at St. Mary’s Church, 303 W. Monroe St., Tomah. Father Ethan Hokamp will officiate.
Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St. Tomah, 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Saturday, at the Church, 10:00 AM until the time of service.
