UPCOMING AREA EVENTS POLICY: Groups that earn profits from their event are asked to place a display ad in the MC Herald in order to be included in “Upcoming Area Events.” Any non-profit adult organization or church will get a 25% discount on advertising. Half price ads are available for second run. There is no charge for youth groups. Items placed in “Upcoming Area Events” cannot contain prices, and the word “raffle” is prohibited. The Sparta FFA will host card parties on the second Friday of January, February, March, and April. Cards will start to be thrown at 6:30 PM.  For $7 participants will get a light meal, cards, and a chance at door prizes.

St. Patrick’s Catholic School, School & Home Association will hold their annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner in the Church Hall on Sunday, March 16th, 2025 (118 South K St. Sparta). Join us for a dinner of beef tips, mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, coleslaw, dinner roll, slice of pie and beverage.  Serving at 10:30 am - 2:30 pm for a Good Will Offering Carry Outs available. Open to the public. All proceeds help to benefit St. Patrick’s Catholic School.

The Monroe County Association for Home & Community Education is hosting a “Day of learning” on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the Lagrange Townhall, 22731 Flint Avenue in Tomah, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Doug Peterson, of Black River Falls will speak at 10 a.m. on his recent trip to New Zealand. Silvia Maurer, of Kendall, will speak at 11:30 a.m. on understanding the healing powers of your own body, mind and spirit. Beverages and snacks will be provided between speakers. There is no cost to attend.

sparta idiotarod 2025. march 22 3pm BEER SHOP 121 E OAK ST, Sparta. It’s that time of year! Time for the great Sparta Idiotarod! This years cart race will start at Beer Shop and end at BCBG. With a Tap Takeover from Warpigs and 3 Floyds, and the evening ending with live music from Blue Collar 40! We will be collecting food items for the Sparta Backpack Program Check-in at Beer Shop 3pm. Race begins at 4:20pm. Race ends at BCBG at approx. 5:30pm. Blue Collar 40 begins at 8pm. Tap takeover is all day at both locations

The Sparta, WI Farmers Market annual meeting will be held at 6:00 PM, Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the Sparta City Hall council room. Please use the east entrance on Court Street. Any current, new, or potential vendor for the 2025 market season should attend this meeting. Opportunities to have input concerning the market, vendor locations, schedules, and updated guidelines will be discussed. SECOND HARVEST MOBILE FOOD PANTRY is in Sparta the third Monday of each month at 2:30p.m. at the winter (Nov. through April)  location at 1121 E. Montgomery St., the Sparta Hockey rink;  the first Tuesday of each month at 4:00p.m. at the Tomah Fairgrounds (1625 Butts Ave.); and the fourth Tuesday of each month at 9:00a.m. at the Norwalk Village Hall for curbside pickup.
