Gerald W. “Jerry” Flock Jr., age 83, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2026 in Youngstown, OH. He was born on March 31, 1943, to Gerald Sr. and Agnes (Berendes) Flock and spent a life that was colorful and unmistakably his own as anyone could hope to live.

Jerry grew up in Wilton, Wisconsin, where he learned early that life had a way of testing a person’s sense of humor, patience, and ability to keep moving forward. He answered that challenge the way only Jerry could, by heading out into the world with a steady spirit and a willingness to see what was around the next corner. He joined the United States Navy, an experience that helped shape the adventurous man he became, and it gave him stories that likely improved with every retelling, which is to say they became even better in the way all good Jerry stories did.

Most of Jerry’s working life was spent driving semi in California and Nevada, where he made the open road his office and the highway his daily companion. He knew the long miles, the early mornings, the late nights, and the particular kind of freedom that comes from seeing the country one stretch of pavement at a time.

Jerry’s life was a long haul in the best possible sense. He kept going, kept laughing, and kept being himself. He will be remembered with love, with gratitude, and with more than a few stories that probably should be taken with a grain of salt, which is exactly how Jerry would have wanted it.

He is survived by his daughters, Nancy (Steve) Boyce and Cynthia (Lori) Best, grandchildren, Ryan (Allison) Alexander, Devin Alexander, Dylan Alexander, Jenna Alexander, Jax Alexander and Kelsie Felger, his great grandchildren, his bonus daughter, Teri (Gary) Lynch, his sister, Rosalyn and brother, Tom Flock, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Agnes, his sister, Mary Jane (Gary) Peth, brother-in-law, Paul Kruse, sister-in-law, Jackie Flock, and his lifelong companion, Abby Flock.

A Mass of Christian Burial followed by military honors will be held Friday, August 21, 2026, 1:00 p.m. at St John the Baptist Catholic Church on Summit Ridge, Wisconsin. Family and friends are invited for visitation prior to the service.  The Torkelson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
