She baptized and confirmed at the First Congregational Church of Wisconsin Rapids. Sue was a member of the Lincoln High School Graduating Class of 1952. She furthered her education at Wood County Normal School where she received her teacher’s certification. On July 24, 1954, Sue was united in marriage to Roy R. Johnson. After her marriage to Roy, they began their lives together on their family farm in the Township of Oakdale.

She began her first job in education at Stowell Country School, Brookdale Country School, and Wyeville Elementary school. Beginning in 1961, Sue spent over a decade and a half with Mack Implement as a bookkeeper and took care of filling parts and waiting on customers. Here, she became well known within the local farming community. During this time, she and Roy also had 4 beautiful children. In her early 40’s, she returned to college at UW- LaCrosse - receiving her bachelor’s degree in Education. She was proud to have completed four years of college in three and a half, all while still working and raising 4 children. She returned to the Tomah Area school District for nearly twenty years until her retirement.

In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, reading, and was an avid crafter, there wasn’t anything a patch or a little Tacky Glue couldn’t fix! Sue is already dearly missed by her family, they will miss her sassy nature, her endless knowledge and wisdom, her amazing storytelling, but most of all, they will miss her kind heart.
