Steven Lowell Gehrt, age 67, of Tomah, Wisconsin, passed away, Saturday, August 9, 2025. He was born January 8, 1958 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Steve served in the United States Army military during the Vietnam era and was a Cold War Veteran.

Steve loved traveling throughout America and Europe. He resided in Madison, WI for a few years before moving to Sparta where he began employment at Northern Engraving and also at Country Kitchen as a cook. Steve loved his work and the people he worked with. He was an accomplished artist, owning Screaming Eagle Enterprises. His art was his love. Steve tried to be a good father, being fair and just. May he rest in peace.

He is survived by his brother, Ken (Deon) Gehrt, devoted friend, John Bowen-Brazell, honorary son, Max Harvey, and daughter, Danielle Schuett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vaughn and Esther Gehrt.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Pastor Neil Nelson will officiate. Family and friends are invited for a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Tuesday. A private family burial will take place at the Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery, Merrill, WI, at a later date. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements.
