Monroe County District Attorney (DA) Kevin Croninger announced today that Andrew Nauman, 41, entered “guilty” pleas and was convicted of first-degree reckless homicide and strangulation on July 16, 2026 for an incident that occurred in October 2024. The case had been scheduled for an eight-day jury trial in August. Nauman also entered “guilty” pleas to first-degree recklessly endangering safety and strangulation for an incident that occurred in June 2024 and involved a separate victim.
The Sparta Police Department investigated these matters with support from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Mid-States Organized Crime Information Center.
“These convictions ensure there will be accountability for Nauman’s violent actions,” noted District Attorney Croninger and Chief Assistant District Attorney Sarah Skiles. “The resolution was reached after extensive consultation with the victims. Their viewpoints weighed heavily in our decision-making.”
Following entry of Nauman’s convictions, Monroe County Circuit Court Judge Todd Ziegler revoked Nauman’s bond at the request of the prosecutor and remanded Nauman to custody pending sentencing. Sentencing is scheduled for September 17, 2026. Court records indicate Nauman faces imprisonment of up to 80 years.
