   SPARTA - Sherry L. (Anderson) Ames, 81, died on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Serenity House, in Tomah. She was born on June 24, 1942 to Howard and Bernice (Olson) Anderson, in Viroqua. She grew up in Viroqua, and graduated from Viroqua High School. She met Richard Ames, and they were married on June 16, 1962 in Viroqua.

   After marriage, they lived in Loves Park, IL until 1967 when they moved back to Wisconsin; where they farmed on the Roberts Farm, in Coles Valley, until 1984. Sherry worked at Highlight, Inc. from 1985-1987, then Morrow Home, until her retirement in 2011.

   Sherry was an avid reader. She enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, and crossword puzzles.

   Sherry is survived by her sons, Joe Ames and Jeff (Laura) Ames, both of Sparta; grandsons, Matthew Ames and Andrew (Jean) Ames; and 3 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Sydney, and Rhys. She is further survived by her brother, Richard Anderson; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Jennings; and many other relatives and friends.

   She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; infant sister; and brother, Larry Anderson.

   The family would like to thank the staff at Serenity House, in Tomah, for the wonderful care of Sherry, while she was there.

   A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, with Pastor Steven Lucht officiating. Burial will be in Mound Prairie Cemetery, in Angelo.

   Family and friends are invited for a visitation from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
