Sharon K. Herried, age 79, of Tomah, Wisconsin, died Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Elroy Health Services.
She was born in 1946 in La Crosse to Gertrude (Norris) Lavold and Luther Lavold. She grew up in Viroqua, baptized, and graduated from Viroqua High School in 1964. She graduated from Western Technical College with an associates degree in supervisory management and accounting. Sharon married Donald A. Herried on January 22, 1966, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. They resided in Menomonie, Viroqua, Sparta and finally Tomah the last 56 years. She had been employed as a hairdresser for 25 years and Super 8 in Tomah for 10 years where she eventually became manager. She also had been employed at JJ’s Floral. She retired in 2001. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where she was an active volunteer in women’s organizations including local and state offices. Sharon and Don served as hosts at Camp Luwisomo Campground for 17 years. Sharon’s faith was extremely important to her and guided her during her life.
Survivors include her husband, Don; sons, Richard RJ (Polly) Herried of Groveland, Florida and James (Heidi) Herried of Black River Falls; a brother, Richard (Janet) Lavold of Lodi; a grandson, Brody Herried of Black River Falls; a step grandson, Jackson Peterson of Black River Falls; nieces and nephews, Hannah (Tim) Schraufnagel, Rachel (Alex) Hesse, Jeff (April) Cowden, Randy (Nora) Cowden, Matt (Robin) Cowden, Shari (Doug) Gunderson, Angie (Joe) Hampton, Mike Thomas, and cousin, Linda Hudson of La Crosse; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Chloie (Clark) Norris Peterson and Isaac and Emma (Sordahl) Lavold; and Don’s parents, Irene (Henry) and Sidney Herried.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Tomah. Pastor Noah Rogness will officiate. Burial will be held in the Dell Cemetery, Cashton. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. The Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements.
