Sandra Swan Winneshiek (Peč Kere Wįga) “Firekeeper,” 75, of Tomah, WI, was called home on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the Veterans Medical Center in Tomah—the same place where she devoted her career to caring for those who served. She spent her final moments among the veterans she so faithfully supported.
Traditional Ho-Chunk services with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Blue Wing Community Center. Robert Mann and Priscilla (C-Ann) Cleveland will officiate. Burial will follow at Waub Mee Mee Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.
