Ronald Lee Watson, age 73, of Tomah, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Tomah Health. He was born on April 29, 1953, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to John and Rose Watson.
Ron married Debra Johnson on April 26, 1991, at the Fort McCoy chapel. Together they recently celebrated 35 years of marriage, a milestone reflecting the love and partnership they shared throughout their life together.
A man of honor and dedication, Ronald retired from Fort McCoy after more than 22 years of service in the United States Army, where he achieved the rank of First-Class Sergeant E-7. His military career reflected his strong sense of duty, leadership, and commitment to serving his country with integrity. Those who served alongside him knew him as dependable, hardworking, and respectful, and he carried those qualities with him throughout his life.
He was a proud and devoted father to his sons, Matthew Parker and Jason Parker and his wife Brooke. Ron treasured his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather, and his family brought him immeasurable happiness. He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Tyler Parker, Jami and her husband Tyler Winkleman, Makenzie and her husband Ray Hochstetler, Liam Parker, and Izzy Garbers. He is further survived by his beloved great-grandchildren, Jaxon Parker, Halstyn Winkleman, Hollyn Winkleman, Rose Hochstetler, Monroe Hochstetler, and Luxton Hochstetler, along with another great-granddaughter on the way in December; along with his brother, Darrell (Sandy) Watson; and his sister, Becky (James) Humphreys.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Pastor Cass Shell will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be held at a later date at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in Spooner, WI. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
