REV. JERRY L. KUEHN

Rev. Jerry L. Kuehn, age 93, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at the Tomah Hospital.  He was born October 11, 1928, to Gerhardt and Myrtle (Swanson) Kuehn.

   Jerry worked for the Post Office after high school and was active in his church where he and Marion Fletcher fell in love. They were married in 1949. Mary taught school while Jerry went to college in Eau Claire at the university and then Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. Jerry was ordained a Lutheran minister in 1958 and served congregations in Mondovi, Cameron, Alma, Spring Valley and Osseo before becoming chaplain at Woodside Lutheran Homes in Green Bay, Wisconsin. After retirement, Jerry continued to minister in a variety of ways in Green Bay, in nearby communities and in the Brainerd/Baxter area in Minnesota. In 2021 Jerry moved to Tomah. He lived at Northern Lakes Senior Living and Assisted Living in Baxter and at Liberty Village in Tomah. The care at these places was excellent and much appreciated. Jerry’s family would like to thank them and also staffs at Gundersen Health System and Tomah Health for their wonderful help in these last several months.

   He is survived by his daughter, Ann (Douglas) Stoda of Tomah; his son, Philip (Lori Howe) Kuehn of Brainerd, MN; grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his brother, Richard Kuehn of Mahtomedi, MN.  He is further survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other friends.

   He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion; his daughters, Martha and Katherine; his grandson, Chester Stoda; and his brother, Roger Kuehn.

   Memorial Services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022, 2:00 p.m., at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah.  Jerry’s close friend, Dr. Chuck Mize, will officiate.  Family and friends are invited for visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Friday.  Burial will be held in the Alma Cemetery in Alma, WI on Monday, May 2, 2022, at 10:00 a.m.  For those not able to attend, services will be livestreamed via Torkelson Funeral Home Facebook page with a link to be provided on Jerry’s obituary.
