Reta M. Epps, age 87, of Tomah, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the Serenity House. She was born on July 31, 1937, to Ivan and Inez (Murdock) Zimmerman.

She worked in the Manpower and Equipment Documentation Division (MEDD), later she traveled extensively to other Army installations as a vendor pay trainer, where she worked with the team leads to set up new vendor pay offices there. She was an integral part of creating and perfecting these offices. She befriended and helped all of the workers. Her most special place was Ft Dix, they considered her not only a trainer but a wonderful friend. She remained very close to those friends until the end.

Reta loved baking buns the way her mother taught her and in later years her passion was making soap. She sold it to businesses, at Cranfest, and giving as gifts. She was also very involved in researching her families genealogy. She won several medals for her age group in running events in the area. Over the years she helped plan her class reunions. She had a strong Christian faith due to being a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints.

Reta is survived by her son Mark(Paula) Epps, Kim Epps; Grandchildren, Crystal, Joshua, Tiffany, Trista, Devon, Jared, Racheal, Ian; many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews ,sisters Larraine Janicki, Beverly Foley, and Donnita(Frank) Farmer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her son Kurt Epps, her parents Ivan and Inez Zimmerman, brother Gerald(Sharon) Zimmerman, Sister Joyce(Francis) Hermanson and brother in law Joe Janicki.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at the LDS Chapel at 702 E Montgomery st. in Sparta, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chasing Daylight Animal Shelter. The Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements.
