SPARTA - Mark Ruedy, 63, of Sparta, Wisconsin, passed away on July 27, 2026.
Born in Sparta, Wisconsin, Mark was raised in Leon before making his home in Sparta. He worked as a truck driver and was known for his strong work ethic. Outside of work, Mark found his greatest joy in the outdoors. He loved farming, hunting, and firearms, appreciating the peace, tradition, and way of life they represented.
Mark was never one to sugarcoat things. He spoke his mind, told it like it was, and was known for a colorful expression that reminded those around him that hard work mattered more than wishful thinking. It was classic Mark—direct, memorable, and always honest.
Mark was a proud father and grandfather who loved his family. He is survived by his mother, Catherine Ruedy; his sister, Michelle Gunn; his former wife, Kristi Ruedy; his sons, Jacob and Jack Ruedy; his daughter-in-law, Christina Ruedy; his beloved grandson, Owen Ruedy; and a granddaughter expected later this year, whom he eagerly anticipated welcoming into the family. He was preceded in death by his father, Alan Ruedy. Five years to the day after his father’s passing, Mark joined him, a testament to the special bond between father and son that continues beyond the years they shared farming together, earth side.
Though he will be deeply missed, Mark’s legacy lives on through the stories shared around hunting, farming, and the countless memories of a man who worked hard, loved the outdoors, and was unapologetically himself. While he won’t have the opportunity to meet his granddaughter, the love he had for his growing family will continue to live on through those he leaves behind.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Sparta American Legion on Saturday, August 29th from 1pm - 4pm. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Mark’s life, share stories, and celebrate the legacy and memories he leaves behind. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com.
