Mickie was an avid genealogist and after years of researching published a book on her family titled “A BIT OF GREEN IN LEBANON, THE HURLEY FAMILY.” She also did after school classes with students at her children’s high school to teach how to find their family tree. She also helped research her husband Jerry and mother-in-law Rose Mossholder Parr’s family tree.
With her husband’s love for Model A Fords, along with showing original 1928 to 1931 fashions she started finding authentic patterns to make replicas. She founded the Model A Restorer’s Club’s fashion awards and was the fashion editor for the national club’s magazine for years.
She was her husband Jerry’s partner when it came to construction projects. The two remodeled their family homes in Illinois and Wisconsin.
She is survived by her sister Geraldine “Gerri” Witz of McHenry, IL; Children, Jerry L. (Sandy) Parr Jr. of Byron, MN, Craig A. (Margaret) Parr of Roy, UT, Brian D. (Linda) Parr of Warrenville, IL, Debra J. (Doug) Roland of Elkhorn, WI; Grandchildren, Jerry III, Jennifer (James), Nicholas (Ashlee), Amanda (Jake), Joseph, Christin, Josh (Renie), Chris, Jennifer, Heather, Alan, Molly, Stefanie, Blaine, Ryan, Jason, Samantha (Keaton), Leona, Shannon (Shelby), Grayson, Jason (Emily); Great grandchildren, Samantha, James Jr., Allison, Michael, Brighana, Orion, Viktor, Guinevere, Anya, Laile, Annalisa, Jacob, Lilly, Joey, Heather, Laile, Anna, Jacob, Amelia, Nathaniel, Bryton, Della, Reinhart and 2 more great grandsons due very soon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parents Robert and Leona Hurley; father and mother-in-law Fay and Rose Parr; brother, Robert (Bud) Hurley and granddaughter Carly LynAnn Parr.
A Celebration of Mickie’s Life will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. A burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. The Torkelson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
