Norwalk - Marie Margaret (Satona) Von Haden, age 99, of Norwalk, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully Friday, October 7, 2022, at Close to Home in Tomah. Marie was born to Gust and Edith (Fauska) Satona on May 30, 1923.

   She was raised in Kendall and attended Rocky Run grade school. At the age of 17, Marie met Ruben Von Haden at the Hollywood Saloon and Dance Hall in rural Norwalk. They were married October 3, 1940.  In their 61 years of marriage, two sons were born, Roger and Jerome. Marie and Ruben lived on the home farm in rural Norwalk. Along with farming, Marie worked at Tillman Produce in Wilton and Northern Engraving in Sparta.

   Marie loved gardening, canning, and baking. She was a lover of all kinds of animals. There was a special place in her heart for her dog and companion, Sheba. If you stopped to visit, no matter if you were family or a friend, one of Marie’s amazing meals with dessert or the candy box would come out.

   Due to health reasons, Marie has spent the last 5 years at Close to Home in Tomah.

   She is survived by her sons, Roger (Joan) Von Haden and Jerome (Patricia) Von Haden, grandchildren, Lisa, Jeff (Vicki), Brenda (Peter), Kurt (Shana and her son, Landon) Erik and Josh, great grandchildren, Amanda (Bert), Christina (Ryan), Jeanette (Kevin), Kyle (Breana), Emma and Ellanore, great-great grandchildren, Myles, and Colt, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

   She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben, her parents, Gust and Edith, sister, Berdina Wiganowski, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ester (Ernest) Preckel, Gilford (Lula) Von Haden, and Ruth Jameson.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022, 12:00 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah.  Pastor Bob Gerke will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pilgrim’s Home Cemetery, Norwalk, Wisconsin. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. 

   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the hurricane Ian flood victims in Florida, by sending a donation in Marie’s name to: Lutheran Disaster Response, P.O. Box 1809, Merrifield, VA 22116-8009 or the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839.
