Margaret Robertson

On Saturday, January 25, 2025, Margaret, loving mother, grandma, great-grandma and great great-grandma, passed away at the age of 92 with her family by her side at Greenfield House.

Margaret was born on April 3, 1932, to Harold and Alma (Garves) Tenner in Sparta, Wisconsin.

Margaret married Alva John Robertson in Waukon, Iowa on September 1, 1948.  They then moved to Lebanon, Oregon.  After having 2 children, they moved back to Baraboo, Wisconsin and eventually back to Tomah to spend the rest of their lives and have the rest of their children.  Margaret had a home day care and then worked as a cook for Gloria Dei Lutheran Church while raising the younger children.  Margaret also worked for Hardees in Tomah and later for Kinder Mfg until her retirement.

Margaret attended church regularly her entire life to be in the Word and grow closer to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  She reflected His Light by using her God given gifts and serving her church as well as her community.  She was a member of the Quilting Ministry until 2021 and the Church Circle until 2023.  She was loved by her community and members of the church. Margaret also was involved in Women’s Bowling for many years.  She loved to go to all of her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s sporting events, plays, and dance team competitions.  Margaret spent lots of time with every family in town and out of town. She loved watching the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers.  If she was unable to go to games, she would watch them on the Hagen Sports Network.  Margaret also had a great love of classic country music.  She would clap along and always had a smile on her face.  While living at Greenfield House they had live music on a regular basis which she enjoyed.

She is survived by her children; Laura Clay of Tomah, Suzanne (Steven) Sorenson of Polo, IL, Patricia (William) Pirnat of Byron, IL, Kathryn (Alan) Dolsen of Hixton, WI, Barbara (Richard) Wagner of Morris, IL, Bruce Robertson of Tomah, Karen Robertson of Sparta, Karl (Julie) Robertson of Waupun, WI, Kevin Robertson of Tomah, Christopher (Susan) Robertson of Bangor.  Grandchildren; Georgeanne Murray, Chad (Cindy) Clay, Melanie (James) Briggs, Nick (Jessica) Robertson, Matt (Kim) Robertson, Brad (Danielle) Sorenson, Scott (Andrea) Sorenson, Kent (Ashleigh) Sorenson, Emily (Derek) Richardson, Ryan (Erin) Pirnat, Reid Pirnat, Aaron (Jodie) Westphal, Justin Westphal, Melissa (Tim) Kowalczyk and Mike (Trisha) Wagner, Erika (Dan) Urban, Kassandra (Matt) Fries, Nolan Solberg, Dustin (Becky) Robertson, Rhys Robertson, Zachary Ewing, Averie (Tyler) Crank, Angela Robertson, Wayne (Gabi) Robertson, Joshua Robertson, and Rebecca Robertson. Along with 46 great grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.  A sister, Linda (Don) Wagner of Viroqua and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Alma Tenner, her husband, Alva, brother, Louis Tenner, sisters, Jan Walker, Barb Bielinski, son, Lawrence Robertson, daughter-in-law, Wendy (Falck) Robertson, sons-in-law, Dale Clay and Edwin John Jr, along with Alva’s parents, brothers and sisters.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, 12:00 Noon at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Tomah.  Pastor David Dahl will officiate.  Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery at later date.  Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Saturday at the church from 10:30 AM until the time of the service.  Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences can be offered by visiting www.sonnenburgfamilyfh.com
