   SPARTA - Lynnette M. (Button, Lewison, Figueroa) Dubois, 69, of Sparta, died January 24, 2024, at Mayo Health Systems in Sparta. She was born on November 12, 1954 to Lyman and Clarice (Posvic) Button. She grew up in Sparta, and graduated from Sparta High School.

She married her first husband, Roger Lewison in 1974 and had 2 children; Cheryl (Shari), and Kathleen (Katie). They later divorced.She decided to go back to school in 1986, and continued on to earn her Bachelor’s degree at Viterbo in LaCrosse, then her Master’s degree from Saint Mary’s University in Winona, MN. She worked at St Patrick’s Parish throughout her schooling as a pastoral Associate.

   Lynette married Edgardo Figueroa in 1989, and they adopted 3 children together; Melika, Austin, and Dominic in 1996. They later divorced.

   She published her book, Women Shaping Church History, in 2000. In 2001, she accepted a job as Pastoral Associate at Nativity of our Lord Parish in Green Bay, WI, where she lived until returning to the La Crosse area in 2006.

   Lynne was an amazing artist, often adorning any piece of blank paper with beautiful sketches. She could also sculpt, carve, paint and write poetry.

   She is survived by her 5 children; Shari (Troy) Demet, Katie (Chris, Brent) Lanners, Austin Figueroa, Melika (Benjamin) Figueroa, and Dominic (Celia) Figueroa; grandchildren, Kathy Roberts, Savannah (Jason) McCoy, Lorelei’ (Dawn) Lanners, Malik Figueroa, Sophia Partee, Matteo and Akira Horn, and Tegan and Lyla Figueroa; brothers, Gordon (Jeanne) and Ronald (Jeanne); 3 nieces; many great-nieces and nephews; and friends.

   She was preceded in death by her father, Lyman, in 1996; and her mother, Clarice, in 2023.

   A Memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, with Father Matthew Bowe officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Melrose Cemetery.

   A visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home.
