Laurence “Larry” A. Kaercher

   TOMAH - Laurence “Larry” A. Kaercher, 71, of Tomah, died Friday March 1, 2024, at his sister’s home. He was born Sept 10, 1952, the 2nd child out of 11, to Thomas and LaVerne (Roeder) Kaercher in Minneapolis, MN.  He was a member of the Ortonville High School Graduating Class of 1971.  After high school Larry served in the U.S. National Guard. He settled in the Tomah area and worked for Toro; he was a welder for Toro until his retirement in 2004. He also worked for Matthew’s Bow in Sparta.

   Larry was a faithful member of the Waterbrook Community Bible Church in Tomah. Larry was a people person who always could make people laugh.  He enjoyed taking his scooter to the BP in the mornings to drink coffee and visit with friends. He had stories upon stories to tell. Most im-portant to Larry was time with his family, especially his 2 granddaughters McKenzie and Addi-son.  They would always tell him “Papa Larry, you make us laugh.” He will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him.

   He is survived by his son Jason of Tomah, 2 granddaughters McKenzie and Addison, 8 brothers and sisters, Tom of Salida, CO, Mike of Tomah, Mary (Roger) Anthony of Westby, Sheri (Ken) Blount of Tomah, Kelly (Jim) Schumann of Tomah, Lisa Jambois of Viroqua, Kim Kay of Sun Prai-rie, Susan Kagel of Westby, many nieces, nephews and friends.

   He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Bemis, and a brother David Plantz.

   The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Anita for all help she not only pro-vided to Larry, but for them as well.

   A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, 10:30 A.M. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St. Tomah. Pastor Brandon Myer and Pastor John Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Town of Tomah.
