TOMAH - LaDene R. Zabinski, 82, of Tomah, died Monday, November 8, 2021, at the Morrow Memorial Home in Sparta.

She was born July 13, 1939, to Arnold and Lucille (Albrecht) Burkhalter in the Town of Clifton. She attended the Bear Creek Country School and later was a member of the Tomah Senior High School Graduating Class of 1957. She was united in marriage to Donald Perkins on July 18, 1957. Later she was united in marriage to Arnold Zabinski on Dec. 31, 1964.

LaDene worked at Toro Co in Tomah until her retirement in 2001. In retirement, she drove for the Tomah Area School District for several years. LaDene was an avid sports fan and cheered for the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Wisconsin Badgers. She enjoyed working with her hands crocheting and sewing. She was an auxiliary member of the Grassman-Larsen-Sowle-Senz American Legion Post#201, and a charter member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. At Good Shepherd she was involved in the sewing club and helping with the funeral luncheons.

Her favorite time of the year was Christmas time. She loved decorating Christmas cookies with her grandchildren. In the summer it was making strawberry jam with them. LaDene was from a big family and loved spending time with all of them. In later years having her brother Randy and brother-in-law Bob over for coffee was time well spent. She had a big and giving heart and at LaDene’s table there was always room for one more.  She will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children Wanda Segroves, San Antonio, Tx., Sandy (Wayne) Wipperfurth, Cottage Grove, WI, David (Sallie) Perkins, Rochester, MN, Arnold (Penni) Zabinski Jr., Camp Douglas, WI, Shawn Zabinski, Tomah, WI.  9 Grand Children, Ben Segroves, Michael (Belaun) Segroves, Laura (Kyle) Schommer, James Wipperfurth, Erica Perkins, Erin Perkins, Jacob Zabinski, Mia (Logan) Volkey, Isabell Zabinski, her surviving siblings Kathy Friske, Bonnie (Stewart) Kortbien, LaMont (Joan) Burkhalter, a sister-in-law Linda Burkhalter,and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, a sister LaVonne Gerke, a brother Randy Burkhalter, and a son-in-law Kevin Segroves, 2 brothers-in-law James Friske and Robert Gerke.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021, 11:00 A.M. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1221 LaGrange Ave. Pastor David Wurdemman will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery.

Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Wednesday between 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
