La Crosse Habitat for Humanity to build home for Tomah Veteran Family

Posted

“Habitat for Heroes” is a new initiative at Habitat for Humanity La Crosse Area. This program, aimed at providing assistance to local veterans, began with the formation of a committee which includes representation from area veterans, veteran’s family members, local businesses, and local veteran organizations including the La Crosse Vet Center, Logistics Health, the UW-La Crosse Student Veterans Association, the La Crosse Area Veterans Mentor Program, the La Crosse County Veterans Services, and the local VFW, according to their website.

The group wants to help a veteran and their family build their dream home in Tomah. This is the second time the group has done this in Tomah, and will be breaking ground this fall. La Crosse Area Habitat for Humanity is accepting homeowner applications through Friday Sep. 16.

Applications are available online at www.habitatlacrosse.org/how-to-apply, by e-mail at jenny@habitatlacrosse.org, by phone at 608-785-2373 ext. 104, or at the Habitat ReStore in Onalaska between 10am-6pm.

The goals of the group is to encourage interaction, skill development, and support for veterans through volunteerism, and to continue to build homes for veterans and their families.

Questions about the homeowner program can be directed to Jenny Sanders at 608-785-2373, ext. 104 or jenny@habitatlacrosse.org
