Kendall will celebrate Labor Day weekend with three days of food, music, competitions and family activities during Kendall Fest, Sept. 4-6.
Organized by the Kendall Community Club, the festival will be held primarily at the Kendall Fest grounds in Glenwood Park.
The weekend begins Friday, Sept. 4, with the Corn and Beer Fest at 5 p.m. Free corn will be served beginning at 6 p.m. while supplies last.
Friday's schedule also includes an AMPI Mini Pull and Southwest Tractor Pull at 6 p.m. Admission is $10. The S&J Carnival opens at 5 p.m. Rising Phoenix starts at 8 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 5, begins with the Royalty Wrestling 5K run and walk. Registration will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m., and the event will start at 8 a.m.
St. Joseph's Catholic Church will serve a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Craft vendors will be set up in the park beginning at 8 a.m.
The annual cornhole tournament begins with registration from 9 to 10 a.m. and bags flying at 10 a.m. An all-school gathering will be held at 11 a.m. at the Kendall Community Hall.
Saturday afternoon's activities include bingo sessions at 1, 3, and 6 p.m. The Last Ride Band will play from 1 to 5 p.m., and carnival rides will begin at 1 p.m. The carnival will offer a ticket special of 25 tickets for $20. A demolition derby is also included in Saturday's lineup.
Sunday, Sept. 6, opens with the Kendall Royalty Booster Club and FFA pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Ruck's famous chicken queue will be served beginning at 11 a.m.
Food stands and the beer tent open at 10 a.m., followed by the carnival at noon. A kids' pedal pull begins at 2 p.m., and the Gary Brueggen Family Band will perform from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.
One of the festival's largest attractions, billed by organizers as Monroe County's largest Labor Day parade, will begin at noon Sunday in downtown Kendall. This year's parade theme recognizes the 250th anniversary of the United States. Parade entrants will line up beginning at 10:30 a.m. near West Avenue and Forest Street, with the parade starting at noon.
The Kendall Fire Department raffle drawing will be held at 4 p.m., and the weekend will close with a demolition derby beginning at 5 p.m., followed by fireworks later Sunday evening.
Festival hours are 5 p.m. to midnight Friday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Sunday. Parking and musical entertainment are free. Carry-in food and beverages are not permitted at the festival grounds.
