Kay L. Schoonover, 91, of Tomah, and formerly of Viroqua, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026.
She was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin on February 18, 1935, to Selmer and Mamie (Tryggestad) Peterson. She was confirmed at Main Street Lutheran Church. Kay graduated from Madison General School of Nursing, she worked in Madison, La Crosse, and Tomah.
Kay is survived by her children; Karla (Denny) Kuehl, Steve (Julie) Schoonover, Laurie (Kurt) Petersen and Linda Schoonover; grandchildren, Jason (Gretchen) Schoonover, Amber (Ryan) Anderson, Abby (Lane) Zahrte, Jessi (Jared) Johnson, Tiff Petersen, and Seth Kuehl; great-grandchildren, Paxton, Kai, Noelle, Kellen, Luka, Henry, Blake, Kylee, Owen and Sophie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary; granddaughter, Jennifer Wehman; parents; brother, Alton and her sister, Lois.
A private family burial will take place at LaGrange Cemetery per her request.
