Jerry (Jerome) Berendes, age 80, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on December 31, 2021, at the Phoenix VA Hospital. He was born May 4, 1941 in Sparta, WI.
Jerry had a 40 year career at the Marshfield Clinic in Wisconsin. He began his employment there as an EEG Technician and was promoted to Team Manager of EEG and the Neurology Department in 1988.
During his retirement years, Jerry traveled and spent time with his children, Todd Berendes, Gina Berendes (Sean), Ryan Berendes (Mary Phillippi) and his five grandchildren- Kai, Taylor, Kaleb, Kasaya and Kali. He is survived by his two sisters, Joyce Thompson and Jane (Tim) Whetstone.
Jerry made a postive impact on everyone he met. He was greatly admired in his professional and personal life. He was deeply loved by his family and was always a source of support and strength to them. His children and grandchildren cherished the time he spent traveling between their homes. Jerry had an active lifestyle that lead him to meeting many friends. He loved to hike and bicycle on the river trails of Sacramento and along the desert and mountains in Arizona. Everyone knew Jerry as a positive and supportive source. He will forever be the wind beneath our wings and missed dearly.
A celebration of his life is being planned for Sunday, June 12, 2022 in Marshfield, WI. It will be held from 1- 3:00 pm at Rembs Celebration Center, 250 South Oak Ave.
