Heinz H. Scherreiks, 78, of Tomah, died on October 31, 2025, at the Rochester Methodist Hospital in Minnesota. Heinz was born on January 25, 1947, to Hellmut and Margarete (Kroh) Scherreiks in Germany. At the age of 4, he immigrated with his family to the United States, where they settled on a farm in Wisconsin. Growing up, Heinz proudly worked alongside his father on the farm, helping to build the strong work ethic and deep appreciation for the land that would remain with him throughout his life. Heinz later accepted a position with the Toro Company, where he devoted 33 years of service before retiring in 2010. Generous with his time and always willing to lend a hand, Heinz was someone others could call on at any moment. He never expected anything in return, offering his help simply because he cared. His family could always count on him, describing him as a strong-willed, steady presence with a tender and thoughtful heart. Heinz found peace and joy in the outdoors. He loved deer and squirrel hunting, fishing local lakes and streams, and made cherished memories trout fishing in North Dakota. He also tended lovingly to his flower garden, especially his beloved petunias. A natural problem-solver who enjoyed working with his hands, Heinz could often be found tinkering with tools and pouring his creativity into welding and other projects. Heinz will be remembered for his generous spirit, unwavering love for his family, and the quiet strength that defined him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Heinz is survived by his beloved wife, Cathy; daughter, Tina (Alonzo) Williams of Wyeville; sisters, Bridgette (Robert) Utke of Tomah and Monika (Lee) Storkel of Warrens; grandchildren, Daniel Williams and Stephanie Williams; and great grandchild, Zaria Williams-Ford; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth Brown, Ronald Baldwin, Ruth Rego, Joyce (Larry) Clark, Juanita Rudolph, Margaret Taylor, Carol Baldwin, Ted Baldwin, Harvey (Becky) Baldwin, Brad Baldwin, Scott Baldwin, David Baldwin, Frances Baldwin and Jeff Baldwin. He is further survived by his nieces, nephews, other family members, and close friends.

Heinz is preceded in death by his parents, Hellmut and Margarete; son, Andy Scherreiks; brother, Pete Scherreiks; and brothers-in-law, Art Baldwin, Gerald Rudolph and Ed Brown.
