Glenda “Darlene” (Caudle) Hancock, age 82, of Warrens, Wisconsin, passed away Monday, July 28, 2025, surrounded by family. She was born September 2, 1942, in Fayetteville, Arkansas to George Thomas Caudle and Kathleen (Neeley) Ledford.

Darlene’s passion for helping others, led her to a fulfilling career as a nursing assistant at the Tomah VA Medical Center. Darlene was a joyful soul. Quilting was one of her passions, where she stitched her love and creativity into every patch. She made quilts, that hold stories and wrap us in comfort, now more than ever. It was her way of keeping everyone close by, even those far away. It was truly a labor of love.

Darlene could spend hours and hours looking for birds, observing nature and would be content and amazed on how beautiful life is. Her dogs were more than pets, they were her companions. They were truly part of the family and they loved her back with a ton of kisses and tail wags! She always had a dog by her side.

Darlene’s wild spirit would come out at any given moment. When she went for motorcycle or car rides, she would follow her rule: “Never take the same road twice.” The destination didn’t matter. She loved spending time with her family and singing songs, these were very precious moments for her. If you just stop to hear her sing, you could truly feel how happy she was, while carrying a tune.

She will always be remembered when we wrap ourselves in the personalized quilts, when we see sandhill cranes or when we hear a joke, that we know would make her laugh. The tears may come and are an expression of how much we will miss her. Mom, grandma, great-grandma, and friend, we will miss you deeply and we will carry on your love in everything we do!

Darlene is survived by her children, Deborah “Peaches” (Patrick) Eirschele of Winter, WI, David (Nancy) Atkins of Swainsboro, GA, Daniel (Karen) Atkins of North Augusta, SC and Andrew (Jacquelyn) Hancock of Warrens, WI; grandchildren, Serena, Craig, Krista, Danielle, Lauren, Haley, Derik, Stephanie, T.J., Brennen, Bryce, Riley, Bodhi and Willow; 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; a special cousin, Linda and nephew, Jeff; along with other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Caudle and Kathleen Ledford; and her brother, Roy Caudle.
