CROSS COUNTRY: Area teams prepare for first meets of 2024 season

The fleetest of feet started practice on Monday, August 19 as area cross country programs kicked off their respective seasons.

The first available date for competition is Tuesday, August 27.

Westby hosts a 12-team meet on that Tuesday. Both Brookwood and Cashton are set to start their seasons that afternoon. The meet will also feature the likes of West Salem, Viroqua and Kickapoo/La Farge.

Bangor will start racing on Saturday, August 31 at the Cashton Invite. The Cardinals will join Brookwood and host Cashton in the 14-team event. The first race is expected to begin at 9:00 a.m.Tomah will begin its season at Westfield on Thursday, August 29.

Sparta will run at Onalaska’s invite on Saturday, August 31 which will be held at Maple Grove Venues in West Salem. Tomah is also expected to compete that same morning.

The boys are set to start at 10 a.m. that morning in the first race of the day. The girls will follow shortly afterward.
