Fire ignites in Sparta MHP

Displaces at least 3 homes full

Overnight at approximately 12:30am Saturday morning, the Sparta area Fire District (SAFD) responded to a reported fire in Sparta Mobile Home Park (MHP) just off of Avon Rd. One home was fully engulfed when SAFD arrived at the scene. The neighboring two homes also caught fire as well. Several vehicles were also consumed by fire.
All three homes are likely complete losses. According to a neighbor, The American Red Cross and local law enforcement agencies helped the families to get groceries and hotels. 
Further information regarding the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Also, everyone is ok according to that neighbor. More information will be released as soon as it’s provided.

Saturday October 12 00:27 hours

This Saturday morning, Erv’s SAFD was dispatched to the 100 block of Avon Rd for multiple mobile homes on fire. Initial report stated there were occupants still in the homes. Command 1 and Engine 5 was able to make a swift response to the scene, and upon their arrival all occupants had escaped their homes. 2 occupants were treated for minor injuries while making emergency exits from their home. Engines 5,1, and 3 and Rescue 1 were on location of the incident.

The fire affected 3 mobile homes, which are considered total losses at this time. Crews were able to remove personal items from the 3 trailers amidst the rubble that was left.

The family residing in the middle trailer are being housed in a motel courtesy of the American Red Cross. Besides a few boxes of personal items that were recovered, they lost everything in the fire.

Sparta residents are putting up a collection for essential items that can be donated to the family. Clothes and personal care products can be delivered to 300 S Water street in Sparta. See photo below.
