SPARTA-Eugene Aaron Finn, 85, of Sparta, WI passed away on June 28, 2025 at the Lodge at Whispering Pines in Plover, WI.
Gene was the son of the late Douglas Finn and Lorayne (Burlingame) Finn. Gene graduated from Sparta Senior High School in 1958.
Gene married Judith (Olson) Finn on January 20, 1962. They raised three children in Sparta - Kathryn, Patricia, and Eric, and in later years Gene and Judy lived in St. Michael, MN and West Salem, WI. After Judy passed in 2007, Gene also briefly lived in Texas, before taking up residence at Whispering Pines in 2016.
Gene was one of the original employees of Reinhart Institutional Foods, working there from its formation in 1972 until his retirement in 2005. He worked as a semi driver, then a salesman, and finally as a Transportation Manager.
Gene was an accomplished craftsman, singer, tuba player, and all-around entertainer.
Gene is survived by his brothers, Michael (Jane) Finn, of Tomah, WI and Thomas (Anna) Finn of Wimberly, Texas, his children Kathryn Finn of Madison, WI, Patricia Finn of Brussels, Belgium, and Eric (Janet) Finn of Stevens Point, WI, and his granddaughter, Claire d’Hont Finn of New York City.
Gene is also survived by brothers-in-law, Jim (Mary) Olson and Jerry (Sherry) Olson, sister-in-law, Joan Sullivan, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held from 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at the Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta.
