Esther Alma Brux Schendel (7/14/1930 to 5/2/2022) was born in New Lisbon, Wisconsin. She was the sixth child of Rudolph Brux and Martha Tessmer.

She met William M. Schendel while working at the VA hospital. They married on 6/21/1952. They had three children Sharon (Boz,) Kurt (Tami,) and Scott (Joanna.) They had seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Esther and Bill were both lifelong members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Esther worked nearly her entire life. She retired from the Tomah VA after 35 years. She also ran an antique business called Esther’s Antiques for 45 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bill (2004), her son, Scott (2015,) and her five siblings.

The last eight years she suffered from dementia and was robbed of her brilliant mind though she kept her sense of humor and wonderful smile. She is in peace in heaven looking down on us. Esther left the world a better place. A grave side ceremony will be held on Saturday May 21st at Oak Grove Cemetery in Tomah WI at 11AM.  A lunch/reception will follow at Murray’s on Main.
