Edwin Wendland, 91, of Kendall, died on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the Serenity House in Tomah. He was born in the Wilton township on April 14th, 1935, the 1st son of Harold I. and Julia (Ludeking) Wendland, on his Great Grandfather’s birthday. Edwin was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ridgeville. He was united in marriage to Lillian Nauman on May 26, 1962, at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church - Ridgeville. Edwin had a strong faith and was a lifetime member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Ridgeville and St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Kendall. He was active in the church, performing many duties.
Edwin and Lillian purchased a farm in the Town of Glendale on March 15, 1964. Their love of farming lasted over 33 years. His second love was being a delegate for several co-ops, later serving as secretary. He was elected to Wonewoc Farmers Mutual Fire & Casualty Insurance Company serving as a licensed agent for over 30 years. He was also Chairman for the town of Glendale.
In retirement, Edwin lived in the Village of Kendall, being a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran church. After the flood in 2018, he lived in Tomah. He enjoyed spending time on Mystery Bus Trips and taking trips with Lillian. He always enjoyed fixing things and was always tinkering around the farm. He will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him.
On the morning of April 28, the Lord called Edwin to his eternal rest, where there is no more pain and sorrow. By faith we are certain of a glorious family reunion at Jesus’ feet.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lillian, 2 brothers; Ralph (Mary) and Irwin (Julie) of Tomah, brothers-in-law: Howard Nauman, and Vern (Shelby) Nauman, sister-in-law Viena Ebersold, many dear nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother; Rudolph Wendland and sister; Alice Likely, 2 brothers-in-law Lester Nauman and John Likely and a sister-in-law, Doris Schwartz.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, 297 E. South Railroad St. Kendall. Pastor Zachary Meier will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Town of Tomah. Family and Friends are invited to a time of visitation at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church Kendall from 12:30 PM until the time of service.
