Dr. James “Jim” Patterson, 79, of Tomah, WI, passed away on December 2, 2025. Born February 22, 1946, in Muskegon, MI, Jim was the eldest son of eight children. He taught high school science before earning his medical degree from Wayne State University. A board-certified Family and Emergency Medicine physician, he served communities in Michigan and Wisconsin as a clinician, medical director,and mentor, known for his compassion, dedication, and lifelong commitment to learning.
He is survived by his children Mary (Di Ena Davis), Lauren, and Jakob (Meggie Royer); grandson
Alexander; siblings Daphne Jones, Paula Patterson, and Michael Patterson; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Joan Bell, Linda Patterson, Jacqueline Patterson, and Dr. Daryl Patterson.
A prayer service will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah, Wisconsin, followed by visitation until 5:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will take place at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Muskegon, Michigan. Date to be determined, followed by burial near his family. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah is serving the family.
