Dennis L. Schaitel, 78, of Sparta, WI, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2026, in La Crosse, WI. He was born to Marlyn and Erma (Luethe) Schaitel on August 13, 1948.
Dennis lived a simple life, finding joy in the little things and offering a kind heart to everyone he met. He was always willing to lend a hand whenever someone needed help. He had a love for art and enjoyed coloring pictures and sharing his finished creations with family and friends. Dennis also enjoyed spending time doing word searches and watching the Green Bay Packers. Among his most cherished companions were his beloved stuffed animal puppies—Sparky, Brownie, and Cody. His gentle spirit, easy smile, and genuine happiness made people feel good.
Dennis is survived by his siblings, Gerald, Gary (Hope), Karen (Ted) Ollendick, and Larry (Theoda), Danny, and Darrell; along with many cousins, other relatives, and good friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Marlyn and Erma; a sister, Sheri Leis; brothers, Jim (Donna) Schaitel, and Richard “Bosco” Schaitel.
A Celebration of Life for Dennis will be held Monday, August 3, 2026, 2;00 p.m. in the Pilgrim’s Home Cemetery, Norwalk, WI. Pastor Linda McPeak will officiate. Dennis and Bosco will then both be laid to rest next to their brothers, sister and mom and dad.
