David G. Retzlaff, 73, of Wyeville, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at his home.

He was born on July 29, 1952, to Leon “Bud” and Eva (Gauger) Retzlaff. David was a member of the Tomah High School graduating class of 1970. He was an exceptionally hard worker and dedicated 49 years as a driver with Keene’s Transfer.

David enjoyed fishing, attending fly-ins, and especially looked forward to his ice fishing trips in Canada. He lived his life by the words, “I did everything right, even when it was hard,” a reflection of his strong work ethic and character.

He is survived by his children, Kirby (Kim) Retzlaff and Tony Retzlaff; grandchildren, Benjamin Retzlaff, Kady Retzlaff, Jessica Retzlaff, Amelia (Isaac) Retzlaff, Matt Markin, and Nick Markin; great-grandchild, Victoria Retzlaff; brother, Brent Retzlaff; niece, Krista (Nathan) Glunz; and nephew, Brad Retzlaff. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Eva Retzlaff; sister-in-law, Nancy Retzlaff; and his aunt and uncle, Ray and Frieda Lawsha; cousins, Janice Tauber, Judy Klee and Rosemary Steinmetz

A Visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM with a time for Sharing of Memories at 2:00 PM at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St. Tomah. Refreshments to follow at 3:00 PM at the American Legion Post #201, 800 Wisconsin Ave., Tomah.
