David Frain Winchel, age 82, of Cashton, WI, passed away at his home on July 16. He was born Oct 31,1943 to Dariel and Delphia (Bugbee) Winchel in Ontario, Wisconsin.

David graduated from Ontario in 1961. After graduation he moved to Sun Prairie to work on a farm. He was drafted in 1965. He fought in the Vietnam War. He had an honorable discharge in 1967.

In May 2024, he participated in the Freedom Honor Flight, an experience he treasured as he traveled with fellow Veterans and his son.

After he left the military, he went back into farming.  But later he found his true passion in milk hauling. David hauled milk for many years with his own trucks and routes.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his 3 great-grandsons. Who will miss him dearly.

David is survived by his children, Tony Winchel, Trevor (Emily) Winchel, Davial Winchel, and Jeff Danielson; his grandchildren, Brittany Winchel, Danielle (Alec) Krasselt, Annie Winchel, Lauren (Thomas) Carothers, Cheyenne (Brandon) Winchel, Deondre Winchel, Areanna Winchel, Jamarr Tillman, Josh Danielson and Jake Danielson; and the little ones that were everything to him, his great-grandchildren, Daxton Ketelsen, Zander Bollig, Trevor Carothers, McKinley Bollig and one on the way; along with a sister-in-law, Judy Winchel; and brother-in-law, Arlen Filter; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his partner of 30 + years, Kathy Danielson; parents, Dariel and Delphia Winchel; and siblings, Velma (Joseph) Bugbee, Judith Winchel, Roger Winchel, Sherry (David) Tracy, Clifford Winchel, Sharon (Russell) Scholze, Wanda Winchel, Rodney Winchel, Robin Winchel, Mary (Wayne) Peters, Cindy Filter, Cheryl Winchel and her twin, Rainey (Karen) Winchel and Alice Delap.

Memorial services for David will be held Saturday, July 25, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude at 11:00 a.m. with a short prayer service, at the Torkelson Funeral Home, Cashton, WI. Burial with full military honors will follow at Forrest Burr Cemetery, rural Hillsboro, WI. Family and friends are then invited to the Ontario Community Center, 114 Church ST., Ontario, WI, for a luncheon and an opportunity to visit, share memories, and celebrate David’s life.
