  WARRENS - Christine “Chris” Jessie Estella Dunahee, 73, of Warrens, died peacefully on December 27th, 2021, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, Wisconsin. On December 27th, 1948, Chris was born to Lyle and Myrtle (Densmore) Griffin in Sparta, Wisconsin.

   After completing some schooling, Chris joined the workforce and eventually found herself at Cardinal IG. Chris spent the rest of her working career with Cardinal, and with time, retired from there as well. Being the driven woman she was, Chris went back to school and earned her GED, which she received in 1984. On June 18th, 1994, Chris married the love of her life, John Oscar Dunahee. Chris and John spent many happy years together.

   When Chris wasn’t spending time with her beloved family and friends, she could most often be found playing games on her tablet, quilting, gardening, and sewing things such as purses and quilts for her grandchildren. During the summer, Chris loved to spend her time checking out local garage sales and auctions. Whenever and wherever Chris went, she was always making friends, most of which turned into lifelong friendships. Above all, Chris loved her family deeply. She always considered her family her first love and her number one priority. She will be remembered for her caring heart and endless love; Chris will be dearly missed by all that the honor of meeting her.

   Chris is survived by her husband John Dunahee of Warrens, her son Jeff Scherreiks of Warrens, her daughters Penni (Lon) Sutherland of Warrens, Heidi (Bruce) Drangstveit of Tomah, Rhonda Scherreiks of Onalaska, Stacey (special friend Nick Fletcher) Donskey of Marshall, Illinois, grandchildren Cody (Kelly) Sutherland, Liza (Jake) Kubelt, Skyler Sutherland, Emily Altamirano, Jared (McKenzie Jeromin) Grilley, Jessica (Patrick Kroner) Van Kirk, Joshua (Sam Kachler) Isensee, Brista ( Josh) Smith, Alysha (Maurice Jackson) Knutson, great grandchildren Grant, Elijah, Hannah, Dominik, Nora, Charlotte, Arik, Lilyana, Giselle, Roman, Amaris, Phoenyx, Wyatt, Zoey, Blake, Mason, Malakhi, soon to be great grandchild #18, her sister Charlotte Gebhardt of Warrens, her brother Dwight (Janice) Griffin, sister-in-law Nan (Donald) Griffin of Warrens, her childhood friend June Lewis, her mother-in-law Ardis Ford Dunahee, sisters-in-law Fran (Vicki) Krantz, Penny (Dean) Dickman, Erna (Skip) Hurley, Ona Stowell, and Jeanie (Richard) Bauernfeind.

   Chris is proceeded in death by her parents Lyle and Myrtle (Densmore) Griffin, brothers Douglas Griffin, Donald Griffin, sisters Wanda Griffin, Romana Brzeczek, Carol Brown, Garnet Tucker, sister-in-law Mary Griffin, brothers-in-law Chet Brzeczek, Alvin Tucker, Kenneth Dunahee, Dennis Stowell, and father-in-law Oscar Dunahee.

   A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 3rd, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at Bible Ev. Free Church, 625 W Veterans St. Tomah.   Dennis Frost will officiate.  Burial will be at a later date.

   Family and friends are invited for a visitation on Sunday, January 2nd, 2021, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E Monowau St. Tomah, and at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Online condolences may be sent to www.sonnenburgfamily.com
