Beverly J. Balliett, 89, of Tomah, WI passed away on February 24, 2025, at the Morrow Home in Sparta, WI with her sister Darlene Petska by her side.  She was born on January 13, 1936, at the family farm in Bridge Creek Township, Eau Claire County, Wisconsin to Harry and Eva (Christie) Balliett. She was baptized in Cornell, WI.

Beverly was afflicted with health problems throughout her life.  She was stricken with cerebral palsy as a child and went through painful treatments and was able to walk normally.  She later contracted polio. Her doctor said that if she did survive, she would never walk again and never live past the age of 22.  Her iron constitution proved the doctor wrong.  She kept working until she could walk with a cane and lived a long life.  Through all of this, she maintained a happy and friendly personality.

Her mother and later sister Darlene provided the loving care she needed throughout her life until she became so incapacitated that she moved to the Morrow Home.  She enjoyed fishing, doing jigsaw puzzles, and watching western movies.  She maintained her Christian faith throughout her hardships, saying her prayers every day. Her tenacity and strong will in overcoming many challenges and difficulties in her life is an inspiration to us all.

She is survived by sisters Darlene Petska and Donna Berry and brother Alan Balliett, a niece and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Sherry Vlasak, and stepfather Alfred Petska.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025, 11:00 AM at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 310 West Elizabeth Street, Tomah.  Pastor David Dahl will officiate.  Burial will be in the Cornell City Cemetery, Cornell, WI.

Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Monday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.  Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home is assisting the family.  Online condolences can be offered by visiting www.sonnenburgfamilyfh.com
