It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother Betty L. Kube, age 91, at Morrow Community Home on March 28th, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents Minnetta and Frank Peterson, her brother Kenneth, and the love of her life and our dad – the late Captain Joseph B. Kube. After decades apart, we are comforted knowing that our parents are reunited in heaven.
Betty was born in Tomah, WI on November 27th, 1933. Mom delighted in sharing stories of her days working at the family’s Maple Grove Dairy with her children and grandchildren. One of her cherished memories was how she would ride one of the cows to wrangle the herd back home.
Mom had an impressive green thumb and enjoyed making arts and crafts. Every winter, she amassed a fleet of flowers and plants in every window. Come Spring, these plants would fill her garden, be donated to the church’s rummage sale, and be gifted to friends and family who visited her. Betty also relished in creating prizes for the St. Mary’s Catholic Church St. Patrick’s Day Carnival and decorations to adorn her home during every season and holiday.
Mom was also a social butterfly; she found joy in talking to friends and strangers alike. Betty could strike up a conversation while in line at the grocery store and by the time she was done checking out, know all about the other person’s life and they would know everything about her and our family. While at Morrow Community Home, Mom was well known and loved by the staff and residents. She would reach out to residents around her, talking to them about their lives and being their advocate when she thought it was necessary.
Growing up, our mom was our biggest cheerleader and supporter, making sure that we had every opportunity available and we never lacked for anything. Betty was immensely proud of her three children; she loved attending our recitals, supporting us in our activities, and cheering us on at sporting events. This pride extended to her grandchildren; she delighted in sharing the grandkids’ achievements with others.
Betty is survived by her loving family. Her daughter Ann Danielson of Shelburne VT, daughter Joleen Craemer (Michael) of Minnetonka, MN and her son Joseph Kube (Stacy) of Tomah, WI. Grandchildren Melissa Danielson (Michael Bobbie) of Higganum, CT, Kristopher Danielson of Shelburne, VT, Megan Danielson (Daniel Brown) of Hinesburg, VT, Erik Craemer (Maria) of New Berlin, WI, Kate Craemer of Chicago, IL, Olivia, Joseph and Ella Kube of Tomah, WI. Great grandchildren Abraham and Asher Bobbie, and Harper and Forrest Brown.
A Celebration of Life for Betty will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of cards or flowers, the family request that a donation be made to Chasing Daylight Animal Shelter in Tomah, WI or Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church in Tomah, WI.
