TUNNEL CITY - Lucille Roof, 92, of Tunnel City, died Monday, May 9, 2022 at her home. She was born October 22, 1929 to Leland and Gertrude (Paddock) Rose in Warrens.
She attended the Tomah High School and furthered her education at the Northwestern Bible School in Minneapolis. There she met her husband, Harley Roof. They were married in 1950 at the Covenant Church, Minneapolis. Together they lived a life dedicated to the ministry of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. At their first church in 1954 she taught Sunday school and started a life-time mission for children’s evangelism. Spending time at the Riverside Camp in Wisconsin and Bibleville Camp in Texas. In her later years she was an active and faithful member of the Ambassador Baptist Church and led bible studies, sang in the choir and continued her child evangelism.
Lucille worked for the Tomah School District as a cook for many years, and cleaning homes for local families for many years. She enjoyed spending her time with her flowers, spending time sewing, researching her family’s genealogy, and swimming exercises at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Tomah. She had a deep faith and dedicated her life to spreading the message of the Gospel.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Harley of Tunnel city, a son Earl of Tomah, a daughter Evelyn Coder of Austin, TX, seven grandchildren, Steve (Lynn), James (Caitlin), Kim (Keith) Allen, Mercedes “Sadie (Zachary) Battista, Katie Roof, Bryce and Kayla Coder, many great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law Lou Ann Rose, many other nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Lois Roof, her siblings, Daniel, Victor, Bessie, Ben, and Alvin Rose, sisters-in-law Marty, and Ruth.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022, 2:00 P.M. at the Ambassador Baptist Church, 15863 State Highway 16, Sparta. Pastor Clyde Ewers will officiate. Burial will follow in the Warren-Mills Cemetery.
