CATARACT - Teresa R. Luther, 69, of Cataract, died Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse. She was born on April 30, 1952 in La Crosse to Abner and Rose (Jones) Howe. She grew up in Onalaska and Holmen.
Teresa married the love of her life, Jimmy Luther, on June 19, 1971 in La Crosse. In 1972 they moved to Cataract where they lived and raised their family.
Teresa worked at Northern Engraving before raising her family. She then worked seasonally at Howard’s Tree Farm, Logowear, and Habelman’s in Millston. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and helping her large family during times of need. She sold Trichem Paints and Stanley Home Products. She also helped with the school census and was a Girl Scout Leader. She was especially proud of her husband for his 30+ years in the military.
Teresa is survived by her husband, Jimmy of Cataract; children, Jamie (Gary) North of Melrose, Jessica (James) Wendt of Lodi, Janelle (Andy Godfrey) Luther of Necedah, and James (Amanda) Luther of Wilton; grandchildren, Mariah (Cornelius Nelson), Zachary (Breanna Gowin), Ryan, Emily, Garrett, Abygail, Joanna, and Nevaeh; great grandson, Alex; siblings, Leon Howe, Regan Howe, Jeanette Bjorge, Malvin Howe, Sheila (Terry) Slack, William Howe, Frank Howe, Judy (Allan Smith) Howe, Kenneth Howe, Christina Howe; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Amanda Jean; brothers, Regan and Stanley; and infant brother, Gregory.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 10, 2022 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, with Reverend Mark Kvale officiating. Burial will be in Cataract Cemetery, Cataract.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home and 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com
